Los Arcos
Los Arcos, near Mismaloya in the Bay of Banderas, is the top spot in Puerto Vallarta for diving, birds watching and snorkeling. It’s a marine sanctuary with small islands full of colorful tropical fish. The underwater area has reefs, tunnels, caves, and arches full of marine life like sea turtles, manta rays, dolphins, and sometimes even whales. Snorkeling here is amazing, with a wide variety of marine creatures. It’s also great for diving.
Los Arcos is safe for snorkeling, suitable for both experienced and beginner snorkelers. You can spend hours exploring the shallow coral reef and rocky seafloor.
As a national marine park reserve, Los Arcos is protected by the Mexican Government. This means no fishing or removing anything from the ocean floor, creating a friendly environment for thriving sea life for your enjoyment. Throughout the year, you’ll see lots of angel fish, parrot fish, puffer fish, and cornet fish in the shallow reefs.
The reef’s depth ranges from 3 to 30 feet, and the water is usually calm, providing good visibility from 15 to 50 feet year-round. Water temperatures range from 79°-86°F from June to December, and 70°-78°F from January to May.
